1997 - Mr Major’s Comments at the Launch of the 1997 Conservative Party Manifesto

Below is the text of Mr Major’s comments at the launch of the 1997 Conservative Party manifesto, made on 2nd April 1997.

PRIME MINISTER:

This manifesto sets out our plans. It is the boldest and most far-reaching manifesto any party has published since 1979. It is time for change. Time for a change to the next phase of Conservative prosperity, that will give everyone no matter who they are, where they live, where they come from, more choice and more control over their lives. We wish to make haves of the have nots, and to bring wealth and welfare hand in hand.
